CHOOSING THE CORRECT SHAFT LENGTH
Selecting the proper shaft length is important to ensure sufficient clearance when going through your dial board, and when using a glass front on your clock. Overall length (A) is measured from the tip of the hand shaft to the movement case. Allow an extra 1/8" for a cap nut or sweep second hand. The threaded part of the shaft (B) secures your movement to the dial plate or wood. Measure the thicness of the material which the shaft must go through. Allow an extra 1/8" for mounting hardware.
